BOIL WATER ADVISORY ISSUED FOR CITY OF COMER

October 12, 2026 — Water Main Break. A water main break causes a drop in water

pressure. This loss of pressure can let harmful germs into your pipes.

What Should You Do?

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a rolling

boil, let it boil for at least three (3) minutes, and let it cool before using.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for:

• Drinking

• Preparing food and cooking

• Making ice

• Washing dishes (or use sanitizing rinse)

• Brushing teeth

• Making infant formula

The bacteria indicate that the water may be contaminated with human or animal

microbes. People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some

elderly may be at a higher risk.

What is Being Done?

We are taking immediate corrective actions, which include:

• Repairing and flushing of the line.

• Conducting testing to check that samples show zero coliform and E. Coli

bacteria, along side chlorine checks.

This boil water advisory is a precautionary measure and will remain in effect until

testing show no presence of coliform bacteria and we receive approval from the

Georgia EPD. We will inform you when tests confirm that the water is safe to drink

without boiling.

those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in

apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this

notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand.

STARTING MONDAY 09/28/2026 THE COMER WATER TANK WILL BE UNDERGOING MAINTANENCE. MAINTANENCE IS EXPECTED TO LAST 7-10 DAYS. CONTACT CITY HALL AT 706-783-4552 IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY ISSUES.
